1. Introduction
ScanSim ("we", "our", or "the Service") is a Document Print & Scan Simulator that allows users to simulate common visual characteristics associated with printing and scanning. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use ScanSim.
2. Information We Process
ScanSim is designed to minimise data collection. We do not request personal identifiers for normal document-processing use. If you purchase credits or request an email sign-in link, we process your email address and the minimum account reference needed to provide and secure your credit balance.
When you use the Service, we may briefly process technical information that is inherent to internet communication, as described in this Policy.
3. Uploaded Documents
You may upload supported documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX) for automated print-and-scan simulation processing.
Original filenames are discarded. Uploaded files are renamed using random UUID-based identifiers.
ScanSim does not use artificial intelligence or machine-learning models to process uploaded documents. Uploaded documents are not used to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models. The simulation uses automated document and image-processing techniques.
4. How Documents Are Processed
ScanSim processes uploaded documents within its hosted application environment and does not send document content to third-party AI or document-processing APIs.
Uploaded source documents are temporarily stored while ScanSim performs the requested processing.
5. File Storage and Retention
Original uploaded files are deleted after processing is completed. If processing fails or file validation fails, the uploaded source file is deleted as part of the application's cleanup process.
Generated output files are temporarily retained so that you can download the requested result. Generated results and associated download-token metadata are automatically deleted within 24 hours.
Generated results may remain available for up to 24 hours, but may become unavailable earlier following service restart, redeployment, maintenance, or infrastructure events. ScanSim is not a permanent document-storage service.
6. Technical and Usage Information
ScanSim maintains limited aggregate usage statistics. Raw IP addresses are processed briefly to generate a hashed/pseudonymised visitor identifier and are not stored by the ScanSim application in plain-text form. Aggregate counters may include page views, visitor counts, uploads, processing successes/failures, and downloads. These statistics do not identify individual users.
7. Cookies and Sessions
Cookies are not currently required for the normal public document-processing workflow. Limited session technology may be used for restricted administrative functions.
8. Analytics and Advertising
ScanSim does not currently use third-party analytics or tracking services. Third-party advertising scripts are not currently active on the Service.
9. Third-Party Services and Hosting
ScanSim relies on third-party hosting infrastructure to operate the Service. Temporary application data is processed within the hosted application environment.
Payments, tax calculation, payment receipts, and the customer records used to maintain purchased credits are handled by Paddle, our merchant-of-record payment provider. Paddle's processing is subject to its own privacy documentation and checkout notices.
10. Data Security
ScanSim implements technical safeguards including random UUID-based temporary filenames, high-entropy download tokens, temporary storage outside public static directories, automatic retention cleanup, and limited data collection. However, no internet service can guarantee complete security.
11. International Users
ScanSim is accessible from various jurisdictions. By using the Service, you acknowledge that temporary application data may be processed in the hosting infrastructure's operating region. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the Service complies with local laws.
12. Children's Privacy
ScanSim is not directed at individuals under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly process information from children.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
